Ciel Plinth

A Handcrafted Wood Plinth with Quiet Individuality

The Ciel wood plinth carries a handcrafted octagonal form and a burl wood veneer finish that reads as considered rather than showy. Burl is a hardwood cut from the irregular growths on a tree, prized for its dense, swirling grain pattern that no two pieces share. This means the natural grain variation gives every tall plinth a quiet individuality, so each Ciel piece brings its own character into the room it lives in. The sculptural silhouette and warm timber finish suit a wide range of interior styles without demanding attention from them.

Ciel Works in the Home as a Long-Term Piece, Not a Purely Decorative One

This burl plinth changes how the room reads by lifting a piece into the eyeline rather than leaving it on the floor. Position a small potted plant on the top surface and its foliage catches natural light differently. Set a sculptural object or a piece of art on it and the item becomes a focal point rather than something the eye passes over. In a nursery corner, the Ciel gives a considered display space in a room that often feels dominated by function. In a living room, it works as a plant stand or a side surface beside a chair. In an entryway, it holds keys, a small vase, or a lamp with the same visual weight as a considered console. As a piece of solid timber furniture designed to move around the home rather than stay in one spot, the Ciel earns its place across years rather than seasons. Alongside the wider range of homewares in the Nuage collection, it fits into a broader approach where each piece adds something to the room without asking the room to accommodate it.
