Frequently Asked Questions

What age is the Maddox Montessori Shelves best suited for?

The Maddox is designed for toddler age upward. The shelf height and proportions are scaled for independent use by young children, supporting Montessori learning principles from the earliest years.

What's the difference between the Small and Wide sizes?

The Small Shelf is 75cm wide and works well in nurseries, smaller bedrooms, or as a focused display space. The Wide Shelf is 135cm wide and suits dedicated playrooms or larger rooms where you want generous open storage. Refer to product dimensions and decide which one is right for you.

Does it need to be wall-anchored?

Yes. We strongly recommend wall anchoring the Maddox, particularly in homes with young children. A wall anchoring kit is included in the box along with instructions for installation.

Does it arrive flat-packed?

Yes. The Maddox arrives flat-packed and requires home assembly. Clear step-by-step instructions and all hardware are included.

What is the Montessori design principle behind it?

Montessori learning is built around accessibility, independence, and hands-on choice. The Maddox is designed at a child's height with open shelves so children can see, reach, and select what they want to play with or learn from, then return it themselves. The piece supports daily ownership of the play space.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth for everyday marks. For tougher marks, use a mild soap solution and dry immediately. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive cloths on the painted finish. Wipe spills immediately to prevent damage.

What other products does the Maddox pair with?

The Maddox is designed to anchor a Montessori or considered play space. It pairs naturally with the Léon Activity Table for shared creative play, the Percy Chair for independent reading and sitting, and the Malo Rotating Bookshelf for a complete reading and learning corner.

How is the Maddox delivered?

Due to its size, the Maddox is delivered by freight courier rather than standard parcel delivery. Metro deliveries typically arrive within 2-4 business days after dispatch. Rural and regional areas may take 5-10 business days. You'll receive tracking information once your order has been dispatched.
